Matthew Sweeney • Broken Flower [2007]
In 2000 the Bonnefant Press published Matthew Sweeney’s The Ice Hotel, followed in 2001 by Where Fishermen Can’t Swim (illustrated by Rigby Graham). Sweeney’s latest collection of poems, Black Moon, was published earlier this year by Jonathan Cape (London). Following his second appearance at the Maastricht International Poetry Nights in 2006 a series of six sestinas, Broken Flower has just been printed by the Bonnefant Press. Set in 12D Dante with Michelangelo initials and sewn into paper covers and coloured paper wrappers. 99 copies: 18 pages, size 23×15 cm €20

Hans van de Waarsenburg & Jörg Remé • Canto Ostinato: Het oneindige lied • Canto interminable • The unending song [2007]
A poem inspired by Simeon ter Holt’s composition for piano, with Spanish and English translations by Pura López Colomé and Peter Boreas. Illustrated with two etchings by Jörg Remé, handcoloured by the artist, and a drawing blocked on the front cover. Set in 14D Dante with Bembo Titling and printed on handmade Fabriano Umbria. 21 pages, size 25×16 cm. Paul van Capelleveen • Dutch Silverpoints • John Gray’s Struggle for Fame in Holland [2007]
In the 1890s John Gray, a young poet and friend of many of the great writers of the period, was trying to extend his reputation by contacting writers abroad. His correspondence with the Dutch novelist and magazine editor Frederik van Eeden shows him struggling to get attention for his work in the Dutch press. At the same time he discusses his connection with the magazine The Dial. Paul van Capelleveen unravels their friendship with the help of a series of letters by Gray to Van Eeden. Set in 13 pt Bembo and printed on laid Magnani paper. 25×16,5 cm, 33 pp. The edition of 75 copies is bound in black ‘silverpoint’ cloth: €120

Tarek Eltayeb • Das gläserne Gespräch • Brittle Conversation [2007]
Tarek Eltayeb, like Matthew Sweeney, appeared at the 2006 Maastricht International Poetry Nights. The visit produced a number of humorous observations of people and animals seen in Maastricht, Aachen and his hometown Vienna. The poems were written in Arabic, but are printed in a German translation by Ursula Eltayeb and an English version by Michael Farley.
Set in 14D Dante with Michelangelo initials and sewn into paper covers and coloured paper wrappers. 75 copies: 18 pages, size 23×15 cm €20

Franz Kafka • Es ist nicht notwendig [WKG Warenhaus für Kleines Glück, 2007]
A small selection from the Zürauer Aphorismen, increasing in length from a single line to a full page, with a woodcut portrait by Rigby Graham. The German text is set in 14 and 16 pt Walbaum using two shades of red: 24×15 cm, 20 pp. The edition consists of 4 copies in quarter red vellum (n.f.s.) and 41 copies sewn into paper covers with printed wrappers: €20

Published to celebrate the artist’s 75th birthday. The book contains seven screenprints in colour (page size 33×23 cm) with a separate print (50×65 cm, supplied in a cardboard tube), signed. 43 pp. The work of Pieter Defesche (1921-1998) is a celebration of colour, movement and people. Joh. van Eijk · Sauerkraut en Pelkartoffelen

An etching by Gèr Boosten shows life in a barrack to illustrate selections from a war diary written by Joh. van Eijk in 1944-5, who was one of many young men from Rotterdam deported to Germany. The Dutch text is hand-set in 14 pt Bembo by the author and his son. 27×17.5 cm, 44 pages.
